Project Description: This “Study and Travel” program is a cultural exploration centered on the historic

colonial city of Cuenca. The program starts on Sunday with a bus ride from Quito to Tambo with your teacher unless you already are in Riobamba having previously completed the “Ruta de los Volcanes” program.

After a night in Tambo classes start on Monday. You will visit the striking Inca ruins of Ingapirca and explore this ancient culture. You will pass through the traditional town of Cañar, home of the distinctive Cañari culture, and spend time in the historic colonial city of Cuenca with its churches museums, fine restaurants and tranquil ambience.

Day trips to surrounding places of interest include Chordeleg with its traditional sierra culture, arts and crafts, and the Cajas National Park, with its stunning sierra scenery, lakes, and unique flora and fauna.

Included in the program are 5 nights of accommodation with breakfast and lunch and all activities and transport as well as classes. The program ends on Friday after classes in the morning. You can then either arrange to stay on to enjoy additional time in the area, travel further south independently to Loja and Vilcabamba, or you can return to Quito with your teacher by bus.
